1)  How does it feel to be crowned the Champions of Champions for 2025

"Unbelievable...I nominated to contribute to the El Arish scores for the 'Champion of Champions' Club trophy - so I was focussed on getting a good nett score.   I think of myself as a middle of the road A grade player, solid but not in the 'big gun' league.   That hasn't changed because of this win, though I am reminded that the game of golf is a 'great leveller' on any day so everyone is in with a chance - that's the great thing about the game, it's who is best for that specific competition on that specific day.  I am very proud that I played consistent golf, enjoyed the day and that El Arish won the Champion of Champions Club trophy."

2) Were there any conditions that were particularly challenging that you had to overcome on the day?

"The conditions were perfect - dry underfoot, sun shining (I live in Innisfail so I appreciate the sun!!), and the atmosphere was relaxed whilst being competitive.  Half Moon Bay is one of the hardest courses in FNQ with narrow fairways, plenty of penalty areas and out of bounds areas.     I do think playing in Innisfail and El Arish has improved my consistency off the tee and iron play.    I didn't lose a ball all day!!"

3) What's your favourite breakfast food before a match like the Champions of Champions?

"Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day.  I love pancakes, bacon and eggs, bircher muesli - I love it all!!!  I travelled from Innisfail, so it was an early start so kept the everyday return of overnight oats, coconut yoghurt and frozen mixed berries with a GIANT cuppa of Nerada Tea :) On course, people that know me know I graze all day!   Apple, carrot and mandarin chopped up."

4) Did you treat yourself with an Ice-cream afterwards?

" I just wanted to get home...Lisa Spiegler (El Arish) and I left Innisfail at 630.  We didn't stop for anything after the presentations.   I do love icecream...and I am catching up with my good friend and  Golf Super Legend Nikki Bruce on Saturday for icecream and I might get a 'double' as a belated celebration (macadamia and chocolate)."

5) Finally, is there anything you'd like to say to future competitors who get the opportunity to compete in the Champion of Champions event?

"I travel a lot playing golf at Opens, Interclubs, championships and fun events.   I like meeting people that I might never meet anywhere else in my life, I like the excuse  to relax, I like the personal challenge of playing to my best ability a sport even when I am having a 'bad day', I like the etiquette of the game, I like that I am 'just Tracey' on the course, I like that golf gives me exercise and an outside experience that connects me to nature.  In FNQ all the courses have fantastic views, beautiful gardens (formal and informal) and I like to take the time to acknowledge the beauty of each course I play.   I grew up in a small town where everyone knew everyone...I like that and the golf community reminds me of that 'connected feeling'.   I do believe that golf is a lot of things to a lot of people, but it can't be everything to everyone all of the time.   So I encourage women to play events that meet their goals whether it be connection, competition, wellbeing, club pride or whatever your 'jam' is .   FNQ Womens golf and golf clubs put on a range of events with a range of scheduling - play the ones that meet your goals! "

Congratulations, Tracey!

Your passion for golf and for community shines through. Thank you for sharing your story — and for inspiring women across FNQ to get out on the green!

We can’t wait to see even more players get involved in next year’s Champion of Champions!
