Our FNQ Junior Jug representatives, Chloe Pratley (Cairns GC) and Sienna O’Brien (Atherton GC), recently teed up at Maroochy River Golf Club for the Junior Jug, part of the Katherine Kirk Classic — their very first time playing the course.

The event delivered everything a Queensland competition can offer — sunshine, wind, rain, and resilience!

  • Day 1: Clear skies and light winds greeted our players, and both girls handled the course beautifully.

  • Day 2: Just as momentum built, the siren sounded — lightning, wind, and heavy rain swept through, forcing a delay. Play resumed after 2:30pm, and the girls kept their composure despite the disruption.

  • Day 3: The wind returned with full force, but Chloe and Sienna showed real mental strength, taking every challenge in stride.

The Central Queensland team took out the Junior Jug, finishing an impressive 12-under par, but our FNQ team walked away with something just as valuable — experience, friendship, and pride.

A special highlight was meeting Dawn Fraser on course on Day 3 — a true inspiration for all athletes!

Personal results:

Chloe (hcp 8) — 83, 86, 86 → finished 39th

Sienna (hcp 16) — 95, 90, 96 → finished 56th

The girls shared accommodation with other teams, beach access (just ankle-deep fun!), whale sightings, and plenty of laughs — making it an unforgettable few days.

A huge thank you to Team Manager Kelly Birney for her support and guidance throughout the event.

The FNQ Women’s Golf community is proud of you both!
