Amber Baker & Erina Williams Champions 4BBB - The Presidents Cup

On 16 March 2025, Erina Williams and Amber Barker teamed up at Mareeba Golf Club to claim the FNQWG Presidents Cup title. We caught up with them to hear their thoughts on the day, their strategy, and their winning partnership.

Q: What did you like most about your playing partner’s game?

Erina: "Amber has all the shots—long game, pure iron play, a deadly putter. She plays fearless golf and goes for everything, while I’m more strategic. We complement each other well and trust each other’s games completely."

Amber: "Erina is a tough competitor and a player you want on your team! She’s steady and makes smart decisions, which lets me take risks. It’s great knowing I can rely on her to keep us on track."

Q: What did you think of the course conditions?

Erina: "Superb! The course was in great shape, and the weather was perfect—except for that one downpour. It cleared up quickly though!"

Amber: "I had almost written off the event due to the forecast, but the committee made the right call to play. The conditions turned out to be fantastic!"

Q: You both wore navy tops and white bottoms—who chose the outfits?

Erina: "It was a last-minute change! I texted Amber at 10pm saying my orange shirt was dirty, so we switched to navy. Turns out I managed to wash it, but we stuck with the new plan."

Amber: "I’ll always choose white bottoms, though I usually get them dirty before I even tee off! The orange was our original choice, but I wasn’t surprised when Erina suggested navy at the last minute."

Q: Did you have a specific game plan?

Erina: "Yes, I kept score, and Amber hit first—that’s our standard approach. We practiced the week before and aimed to shoot under par. We didn’t quite get there, but we played solid golf."

Amber: "Our strategy works because we know each other’s games so well. Erina also knows when to rein me in—like when I spot a ridiculous gap and want to go for it!"

Q: What was your favourite part of the day?

Erina: "Everything! The group, the course, the competition—it was an amazing experience."

Amber: "I love team events, so this was right up my alley. Even the quick rain shower didn’t dampen the fun!"

With their strong chemistry and a long history of winning together, Erina and Amber are definitely a duo to watch in future events.
